Waiting for the letter

Posted on April 11th, 2008

Upon graduation for most polytechnic guys, we have to wait to serve the country. Aka: National Service. The wait could vary, ranging from 3 to 6 months. Well, I’m waiting for the day I become a botaku and run around in an island shouting like a dog, running like a dog, treated like a dog.

But during that wait, most people will tend to find a job. I did. I went for 6 interviews, and it was only recently that I finally found a job. And while I started my job happily, I got calls from previous companies that I went for interview, asking me if I still wanna work for them. Do take note that it took me 3 weeks to find a job. And during the 3 weeks, no one bother calling me and tell me “You’re Hired!” This made me despair (ZETSUBO DA!!! ZETSUBO DA!! ZETSUBO!!) I had to find work.

Anyway, I’m quite happy with my present work. Here’s a short summary of what I do everyday:

My day will start when I have to walk a 10 min walk from the nearest bus stop to my office. After that, it will be a walk from the top right corner of the above picture, till the “SBR8351R” car. Around 1min walk.

And this is the place where I work:

Oh..Just in case you thought it was the ones below, actually, it isn’t. See the sign on the top right corner? Hold on while I zoom in:

Yes. Thy company’s name is “Great Art Interior……………..” Long name >.> And despite grandness of the name, it isn’t so. Details later when we get into the office.

And yes, I have to enter through gate like so:

Tap the card~~ And enter the gate:

Bow to the alter~~ Let’s skip and enter my work station immediately. (Editor’s note: Actually, I shot a short video of entering the gate, reaching my work station, etc etc. But somehow, Wordpress doesn’t allow me. Should I change to Wordpress 2.5?) And here’s my work station:

A Pentium 4 computer with 1gb of RAM with widescreen monitor. As a matter of fact, I;m surprised at the computer’s spec. I expected it to be like Pentium 3 with 512Mb of RAM, etc etc. But no. And the printer at the side, it was bought when I went for the first day of work. The manager, who is my mum’s friend, bought it for me so that I can print documents out for their work. But….fufufufu ( Japanese evil laughter.) *ahem*

And as a forgetful hardworker, I tend to post notes around my desk so that I do not forget stuffs. But somehow, it isn’t working as I’m not referring to it often. FAIL!!

Well, that’s about all for the physical aspect. Now on to the details of work, pay, and free time.

The pay will be $5.50 per hour, in which you only work half-day daily. Yes. It’s a 8.30am to 1pm work. But I gotta admit, I’m always late and sometimes, I will stay a little to cover the time. Sometimes~~

As for the workload, it isn’t that heavy. And it isn’t difficult either. Just Excel, and you’re done. Basically, I type quotations done by the boss, email them to the clients, check emails, take phone calls, do faxes, etc. Occasionally, I get to type invoices and delivery orders, which is the boring job. Many things to note, many things to do. That’s basically the stuffs I do. And despite the fact that I’m required to work for 4.5hrs daily, the workload can be cleared in 1.5hrs. Provided that I do it slowly and correctly. (I just got scolded for doing things so rashly today morning. U_U) So, what do you think I do when I’m done?

Make a guess. Clues are below:

  1. I’m alone most of the time.
  2. No “surprise attacks” from behind my back as I know no one, absolutely no one, will enter from the door behind me.
  3. There’s a computer, air-con, tissue paper within reach.

Well, if you have no idea, here are more clues: Just don’t nosebleed.

The clues are on the pictures. Most dannychoo.com readers should know. For those who dunno, I admire you for staying so pure, oblivious to such stuffs. Really. I wanna stay that way, but couldn’t.

Well, in case this is a big shock, I shall move on to more not-so-shocking topic.

When I’m free, I usually take paper from my bag, or the office in this case, and start doodling. One of my drawings below:

And of cos, beside me, there’s a “Snack Tray”. Usually, companies have “Snack Bar”, but for my, I have a “Snack Tray”. Stuffs are self-provided.

Well, that’s about it. You’re now a step closer to my tiny world.. BOOO >o< That’s all for now~~Jyaa.

    Nice job you got there…

As for my job, Since my Dad and his bro/sis owns a badminton court [going a year next month], what I do is only encoding notices, game results, etc using MS Word, designing trophies/medals/posters for upcoming tournaments using Fireworks 8… As for the court’s homepage, not done yet… I’m lazy as hell lately…

How I wish to go back the time when I was still doing OJT/intern(school is Informatics) in my uncle’s computer shop… I also worked with their homepage [http://lykmicro.bravehost.com/index.htm ]but hell… this was the suckiest of all works I’ve done so far…
