Anime Blog Awards

March 28th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Given the rise of animeblogs locally and internationally, there must be recognition given to the individual blog owners so that they know that what they have been doing for the past X years have been fruitful and worth it. Furthermore, as more blogs are created, some of them are rather left out. Isolated. Lonely. They are “lacking a sense of community and meaningful interaction.” Here’s where the “Anime Blog Awards” comes into play.

Anime Blog Awards: By bloggers, for Bloggers.

In order to pull in all the isolated anime blogs out in the anime blogosphere, and to recognise the best of the best out of it, The Anime Blog Awards committee was founded. The awards currently has the following category in which you, as an animeblogger, can vote for. However, if you do not own a blog, you too can take part. On 1 April 2008, the awards are open to the public and public voting will take place then.

The 15 Category that you can vote for are:

* Best Episodic Blog
* Best Editorial Blog
* Best Team Blog
* Best Manga Blog
* Most Influential Blog
* Best Dorama
* Rookie of the Year
* Funniest Blog
* Best Satire Blog
* Best Seiyuu-Orientated Blog
* Most Thought-Provoking Blog
* Best Blog-related Comic
* Best Figurine Blog
* Best Art/Doujin/Visual Novel Blog
* Best News Blog

Well, I haven’t place my votes yet, and have no idea when. Maybe when you’re done reading this post. Or maybe like the others, 1 April. Whenever is the case, I will place my vote.

Personally, I’m kinda glad that such awards exist in the blogosphere. As mentioned, there are too many blogs around. And they need a single place where they can be gathered and do many things from there. Discuss about the animes they like, draw their favourite female characters in suggestive poses that only the people themselves want. Or even, create their own manga or animes.

Furthermore, I’m not sure if Singapore animebloggers get this feeling, but I often do. The current blogging scene has being separated into 2 types: The upper levels, and the normal levels.

The upper level blogs are like those of DarkMirage, Riuva, and Anime Desho Desho, just to name a few . While the normal level animeblogs are like those of Otakurean, zeNIME, and Moe Totsugeki just to name a few too. Me included. >_< And there I was thinking: Is it possible to drag this two levels of blogs together? Cos all of them have different point of views of different animes. If all of us come together, information is spread quickly. This way, all of us can strive together. Take the following as an example: if 1 blog has information on a certain subject, all of us can know instantly. And the anime community can grow together in the future.

Enough of such talks. Time to vote. That said, it’s goodbye for now.

    Dear TinyRedMan,

    The thing is that most networks (aka like blog communities) usually turn out where there are a few “upper level” blogs as you mention and a huge number of “normal level” blogs. I really wonder if there is truly any chance of really dragging the two levels together.

    My pessimism comes because new entrants to the blogosphere often tries to link to these “upper level” blogs, meaning that there is a given prestige. People like to flock in areas where there is some sort of popularity, and this becomes reinforced into a state of homeostasis.

    Anyway, thank you for advertising about the anime blog awards. Do tell any other Singaporean anime blogger that I do not notice about this awards. It will be great to have more fellow Singaporeans participating in this nice award.
